Web- and Desktop-Solution in one

KnowHowDB can be placed in the "Out of browser" mode. When starting KnowHowDB appears in the "look" of a familiar desktop application. This mode allows close integration with other applications and the Windows operating system. Drag and drop files directly and opening attachments (eg Microsoft Word documents) to facilitate the work.

 

How it works:

  1. Start the application in a Browser, click right mouse button in the login window an select "KnowHowDB install on this computer ..."

  2. Click on installation

  3. KnowHowDB is now installed on your PC. You will find an icon on the desktop.

  4. KnowHowDB can be uninstalled with three clicks. Click right mouse button on the login window an select "Remove this application..." .

  5. Click on "yes" and the application will be uninstalled

Silverlight

KnowHowDB client based on Silverlight technology from Microsoft. Silverlight is a new, very interesting technology with "Rich Internet Applications" will be created. The application is downloaded from the web server and executed locally. Thus, the performance is much better than existing web applications. Silverlight is in terms of its user interface presentation layer derived from the Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) and provides an intuitive desktop-like operation. There are free plugins for Windows, Apple Macintosh, and also one for Linux. Silverlight is based on a reduced version of the. NET Framework. The application is communicating with the Web server by using web services (Windows Communication Foundation - WCF).
