KnowHowDB can be run on Windows 7 with no limitations.
This version no longer needs to be uninstalled. The new application can simply be installed over the old version.
Uninstall application via Control panel (Start – Settings – Control panel – Software) and install new application.
Install the new version of KnowHowDB. The complete KnowHowDB.khd file can then be imported. Leave the existing version installed, until you have transferred all the data. It is possible to operate an older version and a newer version at the same time.
IMPORTANT: The user groups settings are not transferred from the older version!
After a Windows dialogue box has been opened from KnowHowDB, such as “Print...” or “Insert picture...”, the menus no longer work.
Please check whether “Security Update for Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 (KB928365)” is installed. Proceed as follows:
If this security update is not present, please download and install this Update from our website.
Click on the Tools menu – Environments – Create Backup.
On startup, the following error message is displayed “System database is either invalid, in use or corrupt. Please select a valid database and restart”.
Please install the current version of MDAC 2.8.
On startup, the following error message is displayed “The .Net Data OLE DB Provider (System.Data.EleDb) requires Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) version 2.6 or later...”.
Please install the current version of MDAC 2.8.
On startup, the following error message is displayed; “You may not have 128-bit encryption on your system.”
Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.01 or higher (min. version 5.5 recommended) and 128-bit encryption are required. You can check whether you have these in Internet Explorer (click on ? in the menu, and then on Info).
Please install the current version of Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0
On startup, the following error message is displayed “Access to the path “C:\Programme\KnowHowDB\Config.xml” is denied””.
Select the control box “Full control” so that this user is granted full access.
