Editor

Quick and easy important information can be recorded in the text editor with any formatting.

All changes are continuous recorded and can be viewed as desired in the history or can be restored.

Historie

The strong similarities to Microsoft Word requires no training. The following formats are available:

  • Dynamic Zoom
  • Hyperlinks to documents, web pages, internal bookmarks in the editor

  • Table of contents (automatically)
  • Labeling and directory of images, tables and formulas

 

Images

Images can be inserted in the editor from a file. The following formats are supported:

  • Windows Bitmap (.BMP)
  • Portable Network Graphics (.PNG)
  • JPEG File Interchange Format (.JPG)
  • Graphics Interchange Format (.GIF)

 

When inserting pictures you will be supported with very large functions. Images can be selected multiple times, determines the size or quality, or automatically adjust the page width.

Documents links

Hyperlinks can be created simply to external websites, to internal bookmarks or to internal documents via drag & drop. To create a link you can drag documents from the explorer or search list panel. This allows to link any KnowHowDB document to each other, as we know it from the Internet or intranet.

Auto detect links in the editor

Certain combinations of text are automatically detected and converted into a hyperlink:

  • Link to an e-mail address. Will be opened in the appropriate e-mail program (mailto: @ hans.muster firma.ch)
  • Link to a website (www.incite.ch or http://www.incite.ch)
  • Link to a file (can be allowed or denied in web.config by the admin )
    - Local file with file:d\Documentation\KnowHowDB.pdf
    - File to network with file:MyServer\Documentation\KnowHowDB.pdf (no \\ before MyServer)

 

Devexpress

The company DevExpress is the market leading supplier of Silverlight-based "Rich Text Editor". The advantage in comparison with an HTML editor is, that the text is displayed in WYSIWYG. The handling is very similar to Microsoft Word and offers a lot of functions as fonts and formatting, graphics, tables, headers and footers, hyperlinks, bookmarks, zoom and much more.
